Our students are doing well as we continue with our holistic approach in developing a broader range of vocabulary. They see their spellings in the classroom, as well as on Spelling Shed, where they can practise as many times as they like. They will also be encouraged to use them in their writing, and the words will be part of their weekly handwriting practise too.
Each week, we will have a Hive Game which will be their Spelling Test. This is then recorded for us and we will be able to analyse where students may need more support. Just before each half-term, we intend to run a Year 4 Hive Game of the first six weeks' words in an effort to secure their accumulated new vocabulary.
Below is a copy of the Spelling List for this half-term. Every student has the same amount of words. However, there are some students that may find it a struggle learning so many each week. To ensure this isn't onerous, and stressful, I would like to suggest that in those cases, the student can choose FIVE or more words to learn from that week's list. |
