Chickerell vs Southill Match Report

After only managing to take part in one match against another school this academic year, we are thankful to Southill for agreeing to take part in this friendly. With the added fact that this was the last chance for the Year 6 students to take part in a match representing Chickerell Academy, this was one that they were looking forward to.

Chickerell showed strong attacking intent straight away, with Reuben scoring an early goal, and Jacob adding two to this soon after, one of which flew into the top corner from outside the area. Normally this would be the best goal of the game, however, there was more to come... Throughout the rest of the first half the Chickerell defence, led with passion by Ty, dealt comfortably with any attack that came their way. They showed a clam poise that any side would be proud of.

Into the second half, Southill won a penalty which, despite the keeper Harley very nearly stopping, went into the bottom corner. However, far from being disheartened from this setback, Chickerell went on the attack straight from the kick-off, with Jacob scoring from just inside the area, to regain the three-goal advantage. The goal that followed this was worthy of winning any game. After a well-taken throw in, five one touch passes presented Leon a chance, which he took first time, to place the ball into the corner of the net. A further goal, again from Leon, sealed the confident 6-1 victory. All of the players can be proud of how they played and represented the school with passion. Thank you again to Southill for hosting and agreeing to play, and for Cormac at The Pet Experience for sponsoring the kit which was worn today.
